Our Philanthropy Officers

Our philanthropy has had a profound impact on me as an individual and on the community as a whole. We have raised at least $20,000 for our philanthropies every year I have been in Sigma Chi. Talking to local businesspeople, friends, and family for sponsorships and donations has helped me grow as a person and has helped locals gain appreciation for what we are trying to do. Our Derby Days event has brought South Alabama's campus together as 2,000 people fill the Saenger Theatre to watch students from 6 different organizations compete for our Derby Days Dance Competition. From giving back to the Mobile community philanthropically to bringing together South Alabama's student body together, being involved in Sigma Chi's philanthropy has been one of the greatest experiences I have ever had.

Being part of Sigma Chi's philanthropy efforts has had a profound impact on my life, shaping my values, and deepening my commitment to giving back to the community. Derby Days stands out as a significant event on campus, demonstrating the incredible strength of our community as we unite for a meaningful cause. It’s truly inspiring to see everyone come together, working around their busy schedules, to support those in need. This spirit of camaraderie is what makes Derby Days so special. It fosters connections and creates lasting memories among participants. I feel honored to continue this great tradition, knowing that our collective efforts make a difference in the lives of others. This year, we have set an ambitious goal raising $30,000 for Derby Days, and I am excited to contribute to this meaningful initiative. I believe that with our dedication, we can achieve this milestone and further our commitment to philanthropy. Together, we can make lasting impact and continue to inspire others to join us in our mission of service.

Serving as the Philanthropy Chair for Sigma Chi has been one of the most impactful roles of my college experience. Leading our chapter's efforts to support the USA Children's and Women's Hospital, the Huntsman Cancer Institute, and other causes has not only allowed me to give back to the community, but it has also pushed me to grow as a leader. Coordinating events, creating new ideas for fundraising, and encouraging my brothers to get involved has taught me the importance of teamwork, creativity, and accountability. Philanthropy has shown me that true leadership is not just about organizing events- it's about inspiring others to rally behind a cause greater than us. Through this role, I have gained a deeper appreciation for service and a stronger commitment to making a lasting impact in both our fraternity and the community we serve.
