Derby Days
What is Derby Day's?
Derby Days is Sigma Chi's signature philanthropy event, put on annually by universities around the country. The tradition of Derby Days dates back to the 1930s, when the Alpha Beta chapter at the University of California-Berkeley hosted a series of athletic and social competitions to promote community service and campus collaboration. That tradition of events has now become one of the country's major philanthropic events.
The Eta Epsilon chapter is proud to carry on Derby Days at the University of South Alabama. The sororities at South Alabama participate in a week-long event of games such as Marshmallow Wars and Goofy Games. The week of Derby culminates in our main event, the Derby Days Dance Competition at the Saenger Theatre in downtown Mobile. There, the sororities and Sigma Chi brothers collaborate in a dance to that year's Derby theme.
There are many memories and friendships made in these events, but our main goal is to raise money for Sigma Chi's philanthropic causes. The Eta Epsilon chapter supports USA Children's and Women's Hospital, the John Wesley Holt Foundation, and the Huntsman Cancer Institute. Please consider helping us give back to our community by donating to our Derby Days page.
